Antique Mother-of-Pearl Opera Glasses

£225.00

A charming pair of antique opera glasses retailed by Carl Stichler, Optiker of Berlin, with elegant mother-of-pearl clad barrels and a silver-tone metal frame.

The compact glasses are decorated with panels of genuine mother-of-pearl, whose softly varied surface catches the light against the polished metal fittings. The ocular rims are engraved with the retailer’s name, ‘Carl Stichler Optiker’, together with the Berlin address ‘Berlin W. Potsdamerstr. 131.’ The central focusing mechanism turns smoothly and extends the barrels evenly.

The glasses retain their original fitted black leather case, complete with its handle and decorative metal clasp. The case has developed a naturally worn surface over time, complementing the age and character of the glasses.
